Meerzorg – Albina Corridor Rehabilitation Project

MACR Project = Meerzorg – Albina Corridor Rehabilitation. The construction of the road starting at the Wijdenbosch bridge up to Tamanredjo (km 20.500) In the term 2010 – 2015 the second part (km 10.500 – 20.500) of this project was executed and produced bij Aannemingsmaatschappij Baitali N.V. (AMB).

The execution of the first part of this project (km 0 – 10.500) started in August 2017. The part of the project km 10.500 – 20.500 was very extensive and had a large impact on the living conditions of the community in the area where AMB performed its activities. These activities were: Road widening such as constructing sidewalks for pedestrians, bicycle paths, parking spaces and bus stops. But also, the placement of roadside objects and road markings. The first roundabout in Commewijne at the corner of the East-West connection/ the Commissaris Thurkowweg/ Road to Peperpot was constructed bij AMB, together with a new bridge at Peperpot and an adjustment of the bend to the ferry place at Meerzorg. During the execution of this project AMB also performed activities other than road construction:

• The construction of lateral drainage;
• The (re)construction of houses;
• The construction of a drinking water well;
• The construction of a new water duct net with connections to all households in the area;
• The construction of a new cable net of the local telecom company Telesur;
• The repositioning of the HS en LS net of the local electricity provider EBS, from above ground to underground ;
